Known limitations
What to keep in mind reading this data — the gaps and caveats we surface rather than paper over.
- CO's confidential per-operator sales and dual medical/retail license families should not be copied to other states by default.
- Per-operator sales DO NOT EXIST publicly (C.R.S. 39-21-113) — statewide/county aggregates only.
- Everything is monthly or slower with a multi-month lag; freshness copy must anchor on the latest reported month and state the lag.
- Never sum prices (AMR) or stocks; the sales report's retailer counts are tax filers, not stores.
- Per-operator/store-level sales are confidential by statute — market-share analytics are impossible from official data.
- Sales/tax are monthly with multi-month lags; nothing is weekly.
- Local control is the defining geographic dimension — a majority of jurisdictions prohibit or cap retail.
