Known limitations
What to keep in mind reading this data — the gaps and caveats we surface rather than paper over.
- MA's horizontal market and open-data CSV assumptions should not be copied to other states by default.
- Per-operator sales DO NOT EXIST in Massachusetts official data — statewide aggregates only; market-share analytics cannot be built from official sources.
- Daily-grain data lands ~biweekly with a ~5-6 week lag and restates continuously; freshness copy must anchor on the max reported SaleDate.
- Per-operator sales are not published in any official Massachusetts dataset.
- Patient counts are annual-only (Annual Activities Report each October, figures as of June 30).
- The municipal layer — zoning/bans and host community agreements — is the defining geographic dimension.
